I would like to add a third. A Phat Dog pissed up at one of our games.
As I couldn't be arsed to run a two table tourney (sorry to all who missed out) the numbers were restricted, but we did manage to squash in eight of the dawgs, with Craig and Nick making up the numbers from the reserve list.
Surprisingly the game started well on time and with the 15 min blinds, the double dealing and the new poker clock on the PC we started off with the usual 300 raise by Quads Marty on the first hand.
And after about 3 hands Marty had a sizeable stack in front of him. I hit a flush and a straight on the flop on consecutive hands and also trebled up.
Adz was on form, declaring a monster on almost every hand and was still ribbing Phil about his early exit and the walk / sprint of shame from last weeks Friday Freezeout.
Lindz also playing an excellent game came into the fray and took me out to increase her chip stack.
At the first break Marty was shitting Kings and was easy chip leader, with Lindz and Adz's close behind. And at the freezeout I took a gamble and went all in with QQ to see me to 6k with and add-on. Steve also tried this tactic but was outdrawn, but with an add-on and re-buy he was just in with 5k.
Craig was really unlucky to go out first when he called and all-in from Marty. Craig well ahead with KK but was outdrawn on the turn and his tighter than a nuns chuff style of play didn't come good.
Nick was then out next when he gave his chips to Phil in a two way all in.
Please excuse the lack of detail with the hands, cause two days after the game, I can remember feck all!
Steve was blinded out soon after and another dawg fell to the bone.
G's, by now legendary, anguished call's were thick and fast, but a quick all-in call threw everyone off balance. I put G on rockets and i think i heard a few giggles assuming a monster pot stealing bluff. A call from Marty and G snatched the pot when his AA whopped Marty's KQ
It didn't last too long though as G's unlucky bad run was even more so when Ebbo came from behind pre flop (K9 vs AJ) to kick him in the nuts and leave his beloved Lindz to call his big blind all in (next hand) and end his pain.. His impression of Jack Nickleson from A Few Good Men, will surely be awarded a Oscar Nomination for best leading male role in a dramatic game of Hold'Em.
Adz's sizeable stack got taken away by me when my QQ took him out. Adz should be adopted as the groups 'Cash-Cow' after calling an all in with his trash.
Phil out next, who was being blinded out and had to pick his hands to double up. Alas it wasn't to be and exited in 5th.
Not that it's got anything to do with the game report, just heard a great joke which i'll insert for those getting bored....
Q: What do you get if you cross a dyslexic, an agnostic and an insomniac?
A: Somewho who lies awake all night wondering if there's a dog.
Anyway, crashing on ..........
I was down to 3k and doubled up twice to about 12k Ebbo also went all-in soon after calling a large raise by Marty who, guess what, showed KK again. By this stage Ebbo had finished off his bottle of Smirnoff on top of next years Wimbledon's supply of Pimms and decided we were the groups answer to Swartzenegger and DeVito in Twins.
I doubled up again soon after with a move against Lindz and with about 30k vs Martys 25k we both re-raised each other and went all in.
My QQ (again) stood up against Martys AK and Marty finnished in the money at 3rd and well please with his loose aggressive play.
After about 10 mins, an equal(ish) chip stack the flop came down 356. Lindz re-raised and I quickly called with a pair of 5's and a straight draw. Lindz only managed to pair her 4's after the turn and finished on excellent form in 2nd.
Although the 1st prize was very nice, I'm keeping a close eye on the points table and the subsequent chip stack these will be converted to for the Chew Chip Cup at Christmas.
Cheers to you all for another excellent game and such a good laugh.
And don't forget those certainties in life. Death. Nurses. And a pissed up dawg.
