A Little Story about Last Night - By Baz

Well guys, a short story about last night. As usual I cannot remember much, apart from waking up this morning on the couch with a sore head, no change there then I hear you say.

I can only remember a few hands, stevey (aka "Shaking Stevens") winning a nice hand, oh almost forgot shaky doing the WALK OF SHAME at freezeout, luv ya kid but it has to be mentioned, dave "two deckchairs" being slightly aggressive with his starting play and at times doing a poor mans version of the legendary "g", running his hands through his balding head. Dave for President, there was craig who was whering a hawani samauri shirt, also I noticed but not sure if any one else did that he was sporting a hairstyle from the disco era of "Saturday Night Fever", but he did managed to get 3rd place and at times was down to 2 pence, but he did double through a few times to get to 8 pence, nice one craig, Darren (aka "the man who never stops talking") who eventually won, though I did at one point think he was in partnership with the President, nice game buddy (bastard), there was of course "rags marty, who again at times fell in the barrel of shit and came out with a **** covered in gold, but I like marty, but jesus he ain't alf jammy at times. There was nick (aka HP, or Harry Potter as he likes to be known), who played just 3 hands all night, tight git, but again I like HP, so we will meet again. Pete the slag as usual arrived late, played 7 hands and left. Phil(who said i look like jack nichlson) who somehow mamanged to make 5 quid last all night. But it was a nice evening, though cannot remember much, though I think somehow Adam has got inside my mind(its a fucking monster) kept ringing in my head all night, plus he is my drinking partner - come back adam - come back adam. Have know idea what I have just said as my head is killing me, and not to offend anyone, as you know I love all you civy fuckers. Long live phatdogs and all who sail in her.

My closing comments and the funniest point that I can remember of the night, was when dave two deckchairs, tickled over his all in bet with two queens and said with a wee smile on his face knowing that he was about to double up "look at these little olives" - crazy darren , then with all the raw emoition of rocky who had just taken a bad kicking from apollo creed, slowly turn over two aces, daveys face was a picture, and you can imagine who won, as davey was last seen on brighton beach selling deck chairs.

I shall leave you with these words. love, respect and honour. Beautiful words, but not mine, you civy fuckers

till we meet again, for tonight i am out on stag duty, so if you hear a ruffle of twigs outside you house tonight, you know this little man is out there guarding you.

I LOVE YOU ALL

ps, if there is any spelling mistakes i apologise as my son is writing this for me, who is happy he got some milk money back.

:)

And now a report from the winner Daren...

Having recently returned from my Honeymoon in Las Vegas I haven?t had the usual overwhelming desires.  Dare I say, I am now a satisfied man.  Las Vegas has that effect.  Every desire that you ever had can be fulfilled 24 hours a day.  From low limit cash games to high limit freezeout tournaments and if you feel like craps, they provide a table for you to do it on.

Anyway now I?m back in the real world and having received a last minute invite I decided to accept and play in the weekly Phat Dogs ?5 Rebuy Tournament.  This week it was held at Dave?s new Card room, fully decked out with electronic game information monitors, blind structures and chip values displayed on the walls and a very efficient but friendly Host.

This weeks Phat Dogs were Dave (two DeckChairs), Marty, Baz, Steve, Phil and Pete.  Guests were Craig, Nick and Daren (me).

Now this is where the game report falls short as I can?t remember many of the actual hands, and I wasn?t even drinking.  I must remember in the future that you should take some notice of how the other players at the table are playing their hands.  I think there are some aspects of the game that involve making judgments based on how you think your opponents might play.  There?s also something to do with bluffing that I?m not quite sure about.  Personally I think the only way to win is to always have the best hand.

I do remember Dave saying rebuy quite a lot, I think he was in for about ?25 by the end of the night, which I?m sure must be a record for Dave (tight arse).  Initially most of the Money went Steve?s way when he tripled up against Daren and Dave.  I think the hands were 88 for Daren, QQ for Dave, A (something) for Steve.  Steve hit a A on either the flop, turn or river, I can?t remember when, I can?t remember where, but who gives a f***.

The rebuys slowed down a lot after the first 15 minutes and the chips were passed around for about an hour with only about 5 or 6 more rebuys.  Towards the end of the rebuy period I managed to triple up with the QQ (Dave managed to avoid another rebuy at this point by making a very good laydown pre-flop with JJ).  There was already a lot of value in the pot when I went all in and Marty couldn?t resist a call with K7.

At this point I decided I was going to sit tight and wait until the freezeout and then a couple of hands later I get the QQ again.  Pete goes all in for about 2000 and everyone folds around to me, I have about 8000 and Dave is on my left with about 4000, so I raise all in and Dave calls with A7 suited.  A hits and the QQ?s are busted again.  Dave wins another big hand before the freezeout starts, but I can?t remember the details.  At the start of the freezeout Dave is a strong chip leader and I think everyone else has about average chip stacks.

My memory is a bit of a blank about the next hours play but at the end of it I have a lot more chips, Dave has a lot less chips and Steve, Pete, Phil and Marty are out.

The next hand I remember is another one of mine (sorry I just don?t take any notice of anyone else?s hands).  I limp in with A2 and the flop comes A22.  Baz bets 3000, I call and everyone else folds.  Turn Q and Baz bets another 3000, I call. I think the turn was a 7 and Baz checks.  Baz has about 9000 and there?s about 15000 in the pot so I raise 9000, baz thinks for a long time but lays the hand down.

Dave is now very short stacked with about 4000 and finally decides to go all in when he gets the infamous QQ everyone folds I call with AA.  I did say that the only way to win is to always have the best hand.

Nick and Craig are also very short stacked and they both go out shortly after, leaving me and Baz heads up.  I have about an 8 to 1 chip advantage.  But I hit a string of very low cards and Baz was going all in with every hand.  I bleed chips to him for about 15 minutes.  My chip lead is now only about 3 to 1.  I get Q,10 and we see a flop QJJ.  We both check and the turn is a 7c which makes 3 clubs on the board.  I decided that this was no place for slow play so I go all in and Baz calls with a pair of sevens and a flush draw which missed.

Lesson to be learnt from tonight is that a pair of queens can be extremely bad bed fellows.

I hope this report was OK and I apologise that it is biased towards my play.

I also apologise for any inaccuracies in the hand description but my memory just isn?t what it used to be since I got married.
