19th January 2005
I was sat between Mel and Jason. I had not played Jason before, and had no idea what to expect, but was flabbergasted to find someone who could out talk me.
Play started rather well for me, taking down a big pot at the start. But twas not to be, and I was knocked out in 7th position soon after the freezeout, after Steve and Eugene bowed out slightly before, to Andy’s monster flush on the flop, beating my pair of aces. Phil and Kris followed soon after when, like those before them, they could not compete with the monster stacks of the other four players.
So, it was down to four players, Mel, Jason, Andy and Martin. Andy amazed us all by going all-in with a pair of 4s, easily beaten by Mel’s two overcards, and it was down to three. Sadly for Mel, little Declan had taken his luck away from her, as he was tired, and she went out soon after.
So, down to two, Martin and Jason. After playing tennis with the chips for a while (back and forth, back and forth) they decided to split the pot between them, with Martin taking slightly more, given his larger stack at the time.
So I guess that's two in a row for 'Quads Marty. Lets hope his nickname does not ring true, and he wins the next two as well!
