Gutshot trip report - 22nd July 2005
Went to the Gutshot cardroom in London on Firday night for the first time, with Marty, Adam and Andy.
Me and Andy played in two tournaments. Firstly a £5 rebuy turbo - 10 minute blinds. I came 3rd out of 40 entrants in the first one and won £76. Andy came 5th for £35. A great first "real" game for me - 2 rebuys so £61 profit. Then the other two turned up and we played in the £10 rebuy. 124 entrants. I reckon I had the first rebuy of the whole field as in the very first hand my 8 8 was beaten by Ace Ten hitting the 10. "Chips!". That was my only rebuy though and I didn't add-on as I was doing OK at the freezeout point so it only cost me £20 to play. At the freezeout first prize was set at £1,378 and they were going to pay down to 9th place, i.e. final table all get paid, which would get you £82. Marty and Andy went out very early on. Adam went out in about 38th place and I went out in about 32nd place.
Andy, Marty and Adam played in the cash games while I was still in the tourney but didn't do too well. I think Marty dumped about £200 for the night. I'm pretty chuffed with things overall. A modest £41 profit for me on the night and great fun. Unfortunately they only post the £10 rebuy results on the website not the £5 turbo ones - bah!
