ABOUT PHAT DOGS
The Phat Dogs are a poker group who play weekly home games in Berkshire, Surrey and Hampshire. Specifically, we hold games in Reading, Wokingham, Bagshot and Pirbright - although new venues may be added in future. We take our poker seriously, but not ourselves. We like to have a lot of laughs, and hopefully this is reflected in the content of this site. We also live in the real world, so some of the language used (although hopefully not the content) may be offensive to some.
All the Phat Dogs are keen to improve their poker skills, and to this end we regularly invite guest players to our games. Subject to places being available, we will always welcome new people along. If you've only ever played online before, do yourself a favour and try some live poker. We also have plans to host a number of tournaments in the near future, so please keep checking back for more details. Beyond that, we'd all love to be good enough to play (and win) some big tournaments, and just maybe (one day) one of us could become a professional player. Dreamland, eh?
Our site is updated regularly, and new items are frequently added. If there is anything poker-related that you would like us to consider, please feel free to email us or put a post on our forum. Now, take a look around, enjoy, and get involved!
Regular visitors and those without a nervous disposition or delicate sensibilities may read the alternative Mission Statement (Deadmoney style) below.
Phat Dogs Mission Statement
Issued by Steve Deadmoney, (Junior Teaboy) Corporate Communications
m Dedication. We'll keep playing holdem until we turn pro - one way or the other. Either we become good enough to become professional poker players, or we lose enough that we go on the game to pay our debts. Now that?s commitment poker!
m Education. We want to help bring the gospel of poker to the world - especially to the newbies (don't forget to bring your money lots of money). On the other hand, if you're already pretty good and really intent on becoming a serious player, we can demonstrate plenty of errors to be avoided.
m Innovation. We love to share our 'local rules' variations with our guests - right after the river?
m Fun. We enjoy our poker, especially when it's at each others? expense. Then we like to rub it in by taking the piss constantly - its sink or swim. So if you can't stand the heat, you shouldn?t have raised with those rags. Sympathy is not in abundance?
m Travel. We love to visit new places far and wide to scam play new opponents and find the casinos that we haven?t been banned from (yet).
m Determination. To inflict more bad beats on the world than the Eurovision Song Contest.
