OK people, we're not a casino or running the WSOP but we do expect general poker etiquette & rules at Phat Dogs games. Donn't get us wrong, we're not expecting you to remember lots of rules that you will probably never have to use, but one thing that has been commented on by our players is that they like our games because when they come to play a Phat Dogs game we have rules about correct play and its a good introduction to play elsewhere as the etiquette we expect is the same as you would get anywhere else... Theres not much point in you playing at our and us allowing you to string bet, then you decide to go to a casino for a game and get a penalty for it - You would just annoyed that you wern't told before and had got into bad habits... easy to make, hard to break. Good poker etiquette also makes for a friendly game and keeps everyone happy. So here are the Phat Dogs Rules (These rules have been checked and varified by a registered tournament director and are all TDA approved).
1 - If you are not seated when the second card is dealt then your hand is folded and is dead, regardless if you sit down before dealing has ended or its your turn to act, this includes fag breaks and trips to the toilet
Example - if you are big blind, and had to use your mobile phone and just got to the table to find that you were 2 seconds too late to play your hand and has been ruled dead but you wanted to look at your cards anyway, this is not acceptable as can give away too much information to people in the hand.
2 - Do not splash the pot ie do not throw chips into the middle of the table into other chips already in the centre (the pot) - Put your chips near the centre in front of you in a stack (s) approx 6-9" from edge of table (correct etiquette). This is for ease of counting, especially when there's an 'all in' and side pots are involved. This also helps avoid any mistakes and saves time allowing more hands to be played.
3 - Do not give any indication, verbal or physical about what cards you would/did have if you have folded and there are still others involved in the hand
Example - If you folded K2 offsuit preflop or because someone raised and the flop comes 2K2 and said 'oh no I would have flopped a full house' that gives the other players involved in the hand the knowledge that K2 or KK has already been folded and no longer in play. This is really unfair and one of the most annoying examples of bad poker etiquette. If you did this at a tournament or casino you could get a 15minute penalty (sinbin) so please don't do it at our games!
Also please don't let out a sigh or huff
