The Wycombe Boys

Although we've all known each other for ages the name 'The Wycombe Boys' did not come about until the Second Wycombe Masters when TCP gave us the imaginative label.  The group has grown in that time as more of us started playing but we've all been mates, workmates, schoolmates etc outside of poker.  So most of these profiles are written about the person and not necessarily their poker skills as I'm no expert.

BOB

Also known as Lord Bob Ron or plainly The Ron, he is the co-founder and regular host of TWM.  Does a great job as host as the new tables at WM4 showed.  All he's got to do now is stop them moulting!  Is one of those people who is just annoyingly good at most things he does including Bowling, Darts, Cricket and especially poker.  Had a short spell with the ill fated Liserd Reborn project as lead singer/rapper.  Has taught both Cawley and Fearn how to play, although watching Cawley you wouldn't believe it.  Went to Uni with Em in Portsmouth and so began the link between the two groups.  We can always rely on him to get to the final table at Wycombe and has been unfortunate not to get further but makes up for this online and then with his showing at Gutshot.  Also a regular in the George Crew.

ROSS

Co-founded TWM with Bob as well as introducing the rest of us -with Bob- to poker.  Worked with Fearn until he left for Uni.  Lead guitarist and co-vocalist with the legendary Liserd but musical differences and distance led to him only playing a bit part with Liserd Reborn.  Acoording to Bob is a Hobbit although I would never dare to call him that to his face.  A talented player who was notable for his early exits in the first two WM, made up for it with his fourth place at the last one.  Has been attending Uni for what seems to be the last 15 years. 

CAWLEY

'The Kolonel' 'Ginger Prince' and 'W$@*%#r' are just some of the alternatives used for Mr Andrew Cawley.  Clearly the quiet soft spoken one of the group.  Yeah right.  If he doesn't have an opinion about something he'll still shout about it, and if he doesn't shout about it he?ll shout at Fearn.  Has a heart of gold but hides it behind a 'I'm a c**k' exterior.  Never afraid to see a flop of three kings after he?s folded and let everyone know he had a king and still thinking he hasn't done anything wrong.  Has major rivalry with Fearn who he is destined to end up living with and forming the Wycombe version of Harry Enfield's grumpy old men.  An ardent Wycombe Wanderers and Liverpool supporter who is as bad on the poker table as the Chairboys are at home.  Former roadie for Liserd, had his own t-shirt and everything.  Also part of the legendary George Crew.

FEARN

Or Ian Fearn as he is known to his mum.  Strikes fear into the hearts of TCP.  Purely because they know he'll start talking Table Tennis with Phil Mannion.  (Steve, can you say TABLE TENNIS!)  Stumbled upon the WM3 and took part whilst consuming a little less alcohol than Adam.  Thrilled not to finish last in that tourney and followed it up by going out straight after the freeze out at WM4.  Far superior on the wooden green table than the green baize but was disappointed to lead Wycombe to another loss against TCP when Phil beat him 3 legs to 1 in Reading, hopes to avenge this loss in the near future.  Co-Founder of the almighty George Crew, you'll normally find him with a beer in his hand or a fag in his mouth.  Also part of the collaboration between TCP and Wycombe with Lindz, G, Em, Lewis, and Steve that are the Dirty vile pikey scumbag smokers.  Took advantage of Damian leaving Liserd and took his place in Liserd Reborn as drummer, but his lack of commitment led to their untimely demise.  Biggest poker win so far was about 16 boxes of matches in the George.  Uttered the immortal line in WM3 as he showed trip 9's to Em's two pair "I think you've beaten me" but has now progressed past keeping hand rankings in his pocket.  Take great pride in the fact that he can actually beat Bob at Pool.  Only real ambition in Poker, no life, is to beat Cawley at everything.

LEWIS

Or just plain Louie. Another who used to work with Fearn.  The youngster of the group.

Louie: Younger brother of Ross. These two are the Hobbit equivalent of the Boatman brothers. Louie has a contrasting playing style to his older sibling, perhaps induced by his willingness to drink alcohol at the table. Despite being ruled more by his heart than his head Louie has a good knowledge of poker, his biggest obstacle is the desire to showboat, which has caused his demise on more than one occasion (which is better than being just plain rubbish I guess). Ever-present at the Wycombe Masters Lou threatens to land a long awaited big cash win, it's got to happen sooner or later, hasn't it? I mean, rumour has it Cawley once got laid and no one ever thought that likely.
